New on-line journal: Communications of the Cloud Software

The Communications of the Cloud Software is a new journal by the Cloud Software Finland team. It is aiming at advancing and communicating the scientific and industrial advancement in cloud computing technology, methodologies for developing cloud services, and in business of cloud computing.  Compared to traditional journals with exhausting review cycles, this journal facilitates disseminating your original contributions on the topic within days. And it empowers to discuss on the viewpoints, findings, best practices, details and opinions.

The on-line journal will be published quarterly by the Cloud Software Finland team and University of Jyväskylä. It is an open access publication, enabling high impact among those interested in the developments of Cloud Computing.

For scholars, the Communication of the Cloud Software offers two types of publishing opportunities for research articles:

1. Discussion Papers; After passing the editor's access-review, the contribution is published as a discussion paper. This type of publication enables disseminating your novel ideas fast. Discussion papers will be commented publicly on this CCS website.

2. Peer-Reviewed Articles; Discussion papers shall be appointed referees, which provide insightful comments and critique about relevance and rigor of the article. The comments from the general public received through the website should also be considered. Once the improved paper is of expected quality, it will be published in the issue of CCS.

For industry experts and practitioners, CCS offers a medium to bring into spotlight your excellence for example in business performance, technological advancements, superior user experience, and use of agile methods.

-Towards Mobile Device Cloud. Although cloud computing has established itself as a novel paradigm, mobile devices have unique characteristics and capabilities that are not made part of a cloud. This paper presents the notion of a mobile device cloud.

-Security Testing Web Browsers. Web browsers have an enormous install base and vulnerabilities in them can result in wide-spread infections. This paper describes efforts made in 2010-2011 to systematically test for vulnerabilities in web browsers. The work was done with Radamsa, a black-box fuzzer that automatically generates test cases based on samples.

-Elastic Build Service. Linux-based operating systems such as MeeGo consist of thousands of modular software packages. Compiling and packaging source code is an automated but computationally heavy task. This paper discusses the possibilities of Cloudbursting to address the issue.

-Designing IDE as a Service. While the popularity of web applications is growing, most of the software is still developed using desktop tools. A browser-based development environment could offer a multitude of advantages.

-Cloud Based Concept for a Future Contact Book. This paper introduced new kind of contact book facilitated by the Cloud environment. In developing this new concept, user interface design and user experience are stressed.

-Software-as-a-Service Business Models. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering is beneficial to both SMEs and corporations, who wish to outsource software-related activities and use simple and low-cost software systems. This paper helps in understanding different SaaS business models.
